Monday, October 25

11:15 am – 11:30 am

·      Protecting Vulnerable Populations in the ED

·      Presented by Collective Medical, a PointClickCare Company

·      Speaker: Jody Rain, MBA-HM, BSN, RN, CEN

As emergency providers, we are faced with providing care to high-risk, vulnerable, and sometimes medically complicated patients. As the single point of care for most of these patients, ER providers are not only challenged with treating these patients, but they are tasked with starting and continuing treatment plans and coordinating care on their own. What we know is that patients go to different facilities seeking answers and treatments; the problem this causes is that providers on different EMR’s are left to find out information through medical records of their own facility, the patient, or starting over on a full course of treatment due to lack of insight of the patient’s course of care. We believe that connecting ED’s to our nationwide network regardless of EMR, allows for more information to be shared amongst care providers within their established workflow for more optimal informed care decisions to be made.

11:45 am – 12:00 pm

·       ED’s Role on Creating a Systematic Approach to VTE Patient Care

·       Presented by Inari Medical

·       Speaker: Adam Leisy MD, FACEP, FAEMS, Chief of Emergency Medicine

A systematic approach to VTE Patient Care was developed by analyzing hospital characteristics that have connected the fragmented patient pathway and improved VTE clinical outcomes. Led by experts in venous diseases, this systematic approach ensures that no patient who should be consulted for intervention will not be missed.

12:15 pm – 12:30 pm

·       Unlocking the CBC: A Role for MDW Biomarker in ED-Based Sepsis Diagnosis Thru Patient Case Studies

·       Presented by Beckman Coulter

·       Speaker: Nima Sarani, MD

Dr Sarani will introduce MDW biomarker & discuss patient case studies that showcase its utility as a signal for severe infection and sepsis in the ED.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 26

11:15 am – 11:30 am

·       Non-convulsive Seizures and the Need for Rapid Brain Monitoring in the Emergency Department

·       Presented by Ceribell, Inc.

·       Speaker: Diku Mandavia, MD

Up to 1/3 of high-risk critical patients have non-convulsive seizures that can cause long-term cognitive disability and morbidity. Time to treatment is critical for optimal outcomes as prolonged seizures are associated with high morbidity and mortality and thus it is imperative that emergency physicians detect and treat early. Ceribell is a point-of-care brain monitor that enables ED clinicians to detect these silent seizures within minutes upon suspicion.

11:45 am – 12:00 pm

·       Efficiency and Care Coordination Within the ED

·       Presented by Collective Medical, a PointClickCare Company

·       Speaker: Jody Rain, MBA-HM, BSN, RN, CEN

Working in the emergency department is not only challenging but also comes with its own unique set of metrics, goals, and throughput concerns. By working with high-risk, high-utilization populations, ED providers are continually looking for ways to increase efficiency, reduce readmissions, and improve patient care all while reducing costs. At Collective Medical we work to optimize care coordination of vulnerable populations across multiple care settings by virtually connecting all members of the care team around a shared patient. By having your health system and outpatient network on the same platform, information and insights can be pushed within established workflows for providers to have real time visibility of patient encounters at the point of care. This allows the entire care team to work together to reduce costs, reduce readmissions, and increase throughput efficiency of the department.

12:15 pm – 12:30 pm

·       Is it a bacterial or viral infection? Using Host-response Technologies to Decode the Immune System and Aid          Antibiotic Stewardship

·       Presented by MeMed

·       Speaker: Sergey Motov, Research Director

What would your ED look like if you had a 15-minute serum test that could differentiate between a bacterial and viral infection? And what if that test was validated in multiple multinational double-blind clinical studies and real-world usage encompassing >20,000 patients?

Learn to solve your most challenging antibiotic treatment decisions with expert Sergey Motov, Research Director, Department of Emergency Medicine, from Maimonides Medical Center a leading principal investigator in the Apollo study. Dr. Motov will discuss the challenges of distinguishing between bacterial and viral infections, despite advances in multiplex PCR pathogen panels. You will also learn about novel host-response technologies, which leverage the body's immune system and machine learning, and how they can be used to develop an actionable plan to achieve your antibiotic stewardship goals.

2:30 pm – 2:45 pm

·       PE Patient Triage: Who goes home? Who gets admitted? Who do you call?

·       Presented by Inari Medical

·       Speaker: Guy Lefort, MD

Learn how purpose-built, non-lytic mechanical thrombectomy devices are changing the landscape of traditional risk stratification and treatment of acute pulmonary embolism.
